The first information I (B.Tesch) got of Italian Aldo Carrer was in 09.08.2010 by Jerry Hooker in USA (www.motorcyce-antique.blogspot.com and www.motorcycle-memories.com ). Jerry gave a very good recommendation about the three books of Aldo Carrer. Although "old bikes and their history is not B.T.´s first priority" I wrote to Aldo at once. But motorcycles always have something to do with "travelling"; and this is my field of interest.

There are very few experts of motorcycles with overview especially concerning the history. Aldo always sends me big hugs and said: "I think it is correct that I have one of the most important collections of the world about motorcycles memorabilia. I collected from 1894 to 1945 period. I am interested in all continents". And: "About trips I have 100 family album and more from 1903 to 1945. If you like to see my collection you are welcome". I promised at once to visit Aldo for sure next 500 years or much earlier...

Aldo
normally works as a bank clerk, but he hopes to retire in 2011.
In 1983 Aldo began his motorcycle's photo collection along with paper materials. He immediately noticed that in this field, besides honest people, there are also sharks. His passion started "with an old chest where I found some really old Motociclismo's (from the 20s) magazines".

Aldo decided to make these three books below "because of my inner passion towards motorcycles history. And of course my works interest the traditional history everyone has studied at school as well". Thanks to this I realized that the official history is not the same as the one that people, I interviewed, told (These interviews were not and are not going to be published anywhere). As a matter of fact my books show facts that are already been told by the official history but in another way, and the reader will notice that most of the time official history is not always true.

"Unfortunately, I just did very few trips in my life. Beside my trip to England and Spain with my Kawasaki in the 70s, I just did some other normal journey, nothing special."

Gli Albori della motocicletta.

Der Beginn des Motorrades.
The Words of the book are in Italian and English in one edition, not in different books
If you like motorcycles that left you on the road when their  batteries were finished, motorcycles that needed you to spend a lot of energy on make them start, and motorcycles that gave you the feeling to be an hero every time you passed next to a girl at 30 km/h… this book is for you. From 1894 to 1905 there were the first experiments about motorization with features that are still alive nowadays. This story is told through unpublished photos that Aldo took from his personal collection, more than 190 pictures.
A 4. Hardcover. 127 pages. ISBN 88-87982-84-8. Exclusiv edition only 250 prints in 2006 (1.000)

The official history has never cared about our favorite vehicle. In both films and photos the motorcycle doesn't appear really often.. like it isn't an important thing in our history. Aldos book shows how the motorcycle was used in the East and West as well. The book covers the historical period 1914-1918, some photos cover the pre-war period 1906-1913. It shows the variety of means of transportation used by the two coalitions during the war. The 283 are all unpublished and they all come from Aldos personal collection. The brands are in alphabetical order.
A 4. Hardcover. 183 pages. 283 fotos. ISBN 9788895302270. Exclusiv edition only 1000 prints in 2008.

The Frau, das Motorrad und die Trends der Frauen-Mode.
The Words of the book are in Italian and English and German in one edition, not in different books
These three topics have always been together. The book tells their photographic story from 1894 to 1945. The first girl on a De Dion Bouton tricycle during a race in France (1894) is the first photo and the Pin Up on the tail of a B17 bomber with a machine gunner on a Cushman scooter, in Guam (Pacific Ocean, 1944), is the last. 525 photos unpublished will keep you company during the reading, all of them are from Aldos personal collection.
A 4. Hardcover. 360 pages. 525 fotos. ISBN 9788886955232. Exclusiv edition only 1000 prints in 2010.
